When I write poetry I have many linguistic degrees of freedom but when I write non-fiction I dont have many freedoms. Fiction allows me some freedoms but not many because I dont want my readers to admire my use of language. I want them to share my dream. Beautiful language can sometime stop the story line. It’s a tightrope situation.
I didnt meet you last December because I live in Adelaide. I’m however coming to Melbourne for Easter & would very much love to meet you if you would be available.
Perhaps I can meet the whole group?

Thank you so much for your response. It’s true that the writing in different forms can dictate itself and sometimes appear to restrict ‘freedom’ and that poetry seems to attract more freedom. Beautiful language can only stop the storyline if it’s there for the sake of beauty rather than for the storyline. I am more interested in making the words strong, energetic and appropriate to the piece rather than beautiful. Although, of course, we say something is beautifully written if it is strong, energetic and appropriate to the piece!
It is of the upmost importance that your reader shares your dream and for you to be successful with that the words written must come from your heart, gut and mind simultaneously. Sometimes that’s the hard thing. And that’s what we strive for, I think. I’ve read some of your writing on the Diasporic website and can see that many of the lines you have written do indeed go a long way to sharing your dream with us.
I would love to meet you and what a good idea it would be if as many in our group as possible got together during Easter.
